Come Join Us at our Bi-Annual Tryouts!
**No experience or First Aid/CPR training is necessary, just a smile on your face!**
Tryouts occur each September and January. If you make the team, you will be certified in SFA (Standard First Aid) and CPR-HCP. Later, you will receive Emergency First Responder certification (the same level as firefighters and police). All of this training is covered by the team and there are no costs associated with joining. If you would like more information or have any questions, feel free to send us an email at email@example.com or visit our office in OC 164.
In try-outs, we are looking for communication between yourself and your partner, yourself and the injured person, critical thinking, and ability to work in stressful situations with a professional manner. This weekend will be filled with learning, excitement and simulations which will prepare you to be on call with us.
Try-outs consist of two cuts. On the Friday night you will be taught a condensed version of basic lifesaving skills. You will then tested on your knowledge of what you have been taught through situations. If you show the ability to grasp these concepts and pass these situations you will be invited back for the Saturday. During Saturday you will be taught a more detailed version of Standard First Aid, and given time to practice your skills we have taught you. Sunday you will be partnered off and be tested on the previous days teaching thorough a variety of situations. These situations are designed to simulate calls you would encounter if you were on call with the team.
Next Tryouts: January 2018
Full attendance will be required (Friday - Sunday) during the tryout process
